Monkey Movies
… Monkey movies. Say the first part with me. Monkey. Yes, if you haven’t figured out by the title on the page before this is a rant for the monkey movies out there. I was asked to do this one some time ago, yet I didn’t really know how to approach it. Of course off the top of my head I really only remember seeing a few monkey movies… There was “Aladdin”, “Monkeybone”, “Godzilla v. King Kong”, and “King Kong” and that might actually be it for the movies where monkeys are a main character.

Now, “Monkeybone” was an all right movie, I found it humorous at times. Aladdin was… well it was a Disney movie; that’s enough said for now.

Okay, there is a movie I have yet to see that I will rant about. Now before you get all “If you didn’t watch it don’t diss it!” I am just giving the reasons why I don’t want to watch it. The movie… “Planet of the Apes” Why do I want to see a re-glossed remake of some show I didn’t really want to see when I was a kid? I mean the movie makes me think that we as humans will be made to look inferior just when I watched the previews. We are already made look inferior enough do we not? Then if you actually want to see it in color you need to see the remake. Usually it isn’t a good thing to remake a classic, is it producers of “The Batman”?

Speaking of classics, and before I forget; as youngsters I am sure we all watched a Godzilla movie. As a kid “Godzilla v. King Kong” was an all right movie. A big dinosaur versus a fifty-foot tall gorilla. What more could you ask for in a movie? The chaos, the mayhem, the madness, and the utter confusion that befell the area and its inhabitants. But if you watch it when you older you begin to notice things. Like if there was a zipper on the back of Godzilla. How much that a building looks like a cardboard box when Godzilla or Kong had tore through it. And just how much the army tanks look like G.I. Joe toys. If you want a good laugh watch it when you get the time. The utter confusion will now be with you, especially when you remember how awesome it looked when something got blown to pieces. I won’t even venture into the Godzilla remake.

But like I said earlier, not all monkey movies are bad. For example Aladdin isn’t awful. At least in that movie the monkey has a real place. After all not many thieves can have a true friend, and well Aladdin found his in a monkey.
